What should count as a successful cocopeat trial?

Decide the acceptance criteria before looking at results. This reduces the temptation to select only favourable observations.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

A coir trial should examine handling and consistency as well as plant response.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Choose measurable preparation and physical-handling outcomes.
  2. Define the crop or nursery observations relevant to the intended production use.
  3. Agree how unacceptable variation, labour requirements and operational problems will be recorded.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

Which outcome matters most?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Ease of preparation

Measure staff time and consistency using the same preparation process for each material.

Plant performance

Use an appropriate trial design and record the management used to achieve the result.

Batch consistency

Compare several identified units instead of relying on the best-performing sample.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Create a short scorecard with essential requirements and desirable features separated.

Keep in mind

Do not change acceptance criteria after results are known simply to favour one option.
