THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Coir feed and drainage samples may be collected at different temperatures during the day.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Check the meter’s temperature-compensation setting and reference temperature.
  2. Allow the probe and sample to stabilise according to the instrument instructions.
  3. Compare samples using a consistent method and record unusually hot or cold conditions.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What explains the change?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Compensation settings differ

Use consistent settings before comparing meters or historical records.

Readings drift while cooling

Wait for the recommended stabilisation and repeat the measurement.

Changes remain unexplained

Verify the meter in a suitable standard before interpreting crop trends.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Store temperature information with the raw reading when investigating discrepancies.

Keep in mind

Do not apply an assumed temperature correction on top of an already compensated reading.
