Why do some drippers sputter when watering cocopeat?

Observe whether sputtering is brief start-up behaviour or persistent interruption.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Air in delivery lines can make a timed irrigation event less predictable for coir bags.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Compare start-up behaviour at high points and distant outlets.
  2. Check supply continuity and whether lines drain between events.
  3. Have the installer inspect air-release arrangements and suction-side leaks where relevant.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

How long does it persist?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Only at start-up

Measure complete-event output and ask whether line-retention changes are needed.

Throughout irrigation

Arrange a system inspection before relying on the scheduled volume.

Only after maintenance

Follow the approved recommissioning procedure and verify stable delivery.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Record sputtering locations and their collected output.

Keep in mind

Do not diagnose an air lock solely from the sound of one emitter.
