How do I investigate slugs or snails around coco bags?

Look for the pest and its access route rather than treating leaf damage alone. Moist hiding places around the growing area may be important.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

The bag exterior, floor and support can provide shelter near a moist root zone without the coir itself being the original source.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Inspect beneath bags and supports at an appropriate time.
  2. Look for trails and feeding patterns while confirming pest identity.
  3. Check nearby weeds, debris and gaps in barriers.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

Where are they sheltering?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Under bags or benches

Improve inspection access and remove unnecessary hiding material using the site hygiene plan.

Entering from outside

Review exclusion and surrounding vegetation with the pest-management adviser.

Damage but no pest found

Continue identification before selecting a control; several pests can cause similar feeding marks.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Use confirmed identification and local crop-approved controls within an integrated plan.

Keep in mind

Do not place an unapproved bait around edible crops based on a guessed diagnosis.
