Why are cocopeat containers tipping as plants grow?

Check container stability and crop support before adding weight to the medium. A growing canopy changes the forces acting on the system.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Cocopeat is relatively lightweight, and a tall or heavily loaded crop may require support independent of the root container.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Inspect the base footprint and supporting surface.
  2. Check whether trellis or stem supports transfer force to the pot.
  3. Compare tipping with wind exposure, crop size and container position.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What causes movement?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Canopy pulls the container sideways

Review independent crop support and anchoring with the system provider.

Base is uneven

Correct the stable supporting surface before changing the substrate.

Container is too narrow for the setup

Evaluate a suitable footprint in the next trial and secure current plants appropriately.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Treat stability as a container-and-support design issue and inspect it as the crop develops.

Keep in mind

Do not mix heavy soil into an established coir root zone simply to act as ballast.
